September 2023 Meeting

Hello everyone, it’s time for another meeting of Liverpool Linux User Group. This time I will do a brief talk and demo myself on LineageOS, the Open Source alternative to Android, and how to install it on your devices.

Weds Sept 6th – 7pm onwards at DOES Liverpool

Full Directions On How To Find DOES can be seen on their website.

This was prompted by some problems I had with an ageing Google Pixel C tablet which hasn’t had official software updates since late 2019. I finally took the plunge to wipe it, replace the bootloader, and install LineageOS. There were some bumps along the way and I’ll share my experience. I now have a working version of Android 13 on this 7 year old device and it seems to run great.

LivLUG meetings are free and open to all, no previous level of Linux knowledge or experience is required. Just come along. If you have an old Android device and are interested in flashing it with a new OS it might be of interest to you.

We will meet as usual at DOES Liverpool in the City Centre. Directions on how to find them can be seen on their website.

Hope to see some of you there,

Dan
