Happy New Year to everyone, the next meeting of Liverpool Linux User Group will take place on Wednesday January 10th at 19:00 (7pm GMT)

This month I’ve decided to start off the year by (hopefully) setting an example and volunteering a talk myself. I want to share my quest for a decent Open Source music streaming solution with gapless playback. More specifically how this led me to set up Airsonic on a server and how I now use it for consuming my music and podcasts across multiple devices and platforms. Airsonic is an audio streaming server application written in Java and licensed under the GNU GPLv3.

I will discuss what you need to install Airsonic, how to use it and answer any questions. We may even get into some of the development ideas for features I’d like to contribute to the project in the future. That’s code for “I’m too lazy to have contributed yet but have good intentions”.

We meet at DOES Liverpool in the city centre (details below) from around 7pm (talks start at 7:30pm) and usually head to a nearby pub to chat more and catch up later.

Find us at DoES Liverpool in the Gostin’s Building on Hanover St, Liverpool City Centre. There is a working lift and the building has good accessibility for all. We’ll be in the first room on the left as you exit the lifts on the 4th floor.

Full location details and directions can be found here – https://doesliverpool.com/location/

We are friendly bunch and all are welcome regardless of technical knowledge or experience.

Hope to see you there,

Dan Lynch
